Dye It Yourself with the Purl Girls!
Dye It Yourself with the Purl Girls!
Date: March 13th
Time: 6-9pm
Location: 130E Rose, suite 105 (Showroom On Colville)
Join Leah and Sara to learn the ins and outs of using acid dyes to create your own hand-dyed yarn!
In this class you will learn the art and science of yarn dyeing. Over the course of three hours Leah will touch on how to mix and set dye, a brief overview of color theory, blending and handpainting yarn; one of the dye techniques that the Purl Girls use.
You will have the opportunity to hand paint three skeins of yarn in this class. These skeins may be dyed simultaneously for a congruous look (for a project) or you may hand paint each skein separately for three unique skeins.
A reminder (and encouragement) that yarn dyeing is an art form so following our methods will still yield skeins that have your own look.
The class cost is inclusive of supplies. You will receive at the class three (3) pre-soaked skeins of our Robusta base (75/25 Superwash Merino/Nylon) fingering weight yarn, packets containing premixed dye and citric acid in a variety of colors, gloves and a disposable mask.
You will be able to finish the dyeing process in this class and decorate a band for each skein. Following the class, Leah and Sara will wash, dry, and twist your yarn into hanks for you to be picked up or have shipped to you.
If you love it and want to keep playing or try other methods, we’ll have additional single skein kits available to purchase and take home!
We will be ordering yarn and supplies specific to this class so no cancellations/refunds will be allowed, you may however transfer this class to another person if you cannot make it. (minimum class size 4 people/maximum 8 people)
Cost/kit for the class is per person.
